Jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh and cash of Rs 10,000 were stolen from the house of a couple Pratima Devi and her husband Ajay Kumar Gupta, residents of Bansilal Chowk of Sadar police station area. As soon as the theft was reported, the police reached the spot and scanned the CCTV footage for clues related to the thieves.
The couple registered a case in this regard by filing a written application at the Sadar police station. In her complaint, Pratima said that on Thursday evening around 6.15 pm, she left the house for shopping. Meanwhile, her husband also left. After an hour, when Ajay Kumar Gupta returned, he saw that his house and closet were open. He discovered that all the jewelry and money had been stolen.
Police officials said Ajay Kumar Gupta is a retired constable of the Excise Department. CCTV footage installed near the house showed the thief entering the house wearing a red T-shirt and half-length trousers at 6.15pm. The couple urged the police to catch the thief and recover the jewelry.
Officials said they are working on the case and the culprits will be nabbed soon.
